Salvation Revealed In The Old Testament: Part 1 -- The Significance Of Numbers

We saw in the story of God requiring Abraham to sacrifice Isaac; that it was on the third day that he was to be sacrificed.  On that day, the man through whom the lineage of Christ would come; was established. Through Abraham would come, the Savior.  This would ultimately mean restoration for the righteous and doom for the wicked.

Genesis 22:2 &  KJV And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.  4) Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

In the Story of Joseph, while he was in Pharaoh’s prison, God gave him the interpretation of two dreams of Pharaoh’s servants and the dreams came true.  It was shown in those dreams that the Butler would be restored and the Baker would be hanged.

Genesis 40:9-13 KJV And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;  (10)  And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes: (11)  And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.  (12)  And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:  (13)  Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.

Genesis 40:16-19 KJVWhen the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:  (17)  And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.  (18)  And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days: (19)  Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.

Genesis 40:21-22 KJV  And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:  (22)  But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.

Salvation Came To Jonah And To Nineveh On The Third Day
Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights.

Jonah 1:17 KJV Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

The city of Nineveh was a three days journey in breadth.  It took Jonah three days to go from one end to the other to proclaim God’s message to repent.  The people did and were saved.  The entire city was marked by God for destruction; but now was saved.

Salvation Comes To Mankind On The Third Day When Christ Rose From The Dead
When Jesus Christ was resurrected, salvation was secured for all who would believe on Him and be baptized.  Salvation was secured for the righteous and damnation for the wicked, the unbelievers.  This was secured on the third day.

Matthew 20:19 ESV and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day."

There are also three festival seasons given to Israel.  The seven Feasts of the LORD fall in three seasons when all men were to give a special offering.

Deuteronomy 16:16 ESV "Three times a year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God at the place that he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost), and at the Feast of Booths (Tabernacles). They shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed.

God Builds On the Number Twelve
There were twelve tribes of Israel upon which God build his nation Israel and there were twelve apostles on whom Christ built His church.  The nation and the church, will be united as The Holy Nation of priests in New Jerusalem; The Holy City.

Revelation 21:2-3, 12 & 14 ESV And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.  (3)  And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.  (12)  It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed—(14)  And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Seven Is Sanctified And Signifies Completion
There are other numbers that have significance.  Seven is completion and the seventh is sanctified.  There are seven days of creation and the seven day week; the seventh is the Sabbath and is sanctified.  There are seven annual feasts of the LORD, given to Israel and seven annual Sabbaths. Israel was on a seven year agricultural system.  The seventh year was a land Sabbath; a sanctified year when no crops were to be cultivated. Seven cycles of seven years was declared a time of restoration.  It was the fiftieth year of Jubilee.  All debts were forgiven every seven years; but after seven cycles of seven years; all property and land went back to the original owners.  If grandpa lost the farm in a poker game, it was returned to his children and grandchildren.  No one person would destroy his family’s inheritance.  All would be restored.  There are also seven weeks counted between Passover and Pentecost.  Pentecost means count fifty.

CREATION
Genesis 2:2-3 ESV And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.  (3)  So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.

SABBATH
Exodus 20:8-11 ESV "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.  (9) Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,  (10)  but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. (11)  For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

The Tabernacle of God Part 2: Model of Prayer Parallel to The LORD's Prayer

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL GRAPHICS CAN BE RIGHT CLICKED AND DOWNLOADED OR OPENED IN A NEW TAB OR WINDOW TO ENLARGE.

Enter through the gates into the courtyard of the Tabernacle worshipping our Heavenly Father, acknowledging His greatness; proclaiming His Holiness as in the model of prayer:  LORD’S PRAYER & THE TABERNACLE

Matthew 6:9-13 KJV After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  (10)  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  (11)   Give us this day our daily bread.  (12)  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  (13)  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

The LORD’s Prayer and the Tabernacle: parallel models for prayer:

As pictured above, there was a gate into the courtyard of the tabernacle

GATES AND COURTS
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise

Psalms 100:4 KJV Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

OBEDIENCE and SUBMISSION to GOD’S GOVERNMENT/KINGDOM
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Bringing an offering to the gate of the Tabernacle showed submission to the government and Kingdom of God; obedience to the LORD, King of kings.

Isaiah 9:6-7 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  (7)  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

FAITH, TRUST AND RELIANCE
Give us this day our daily bread

And prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven,

Malachi 3:10-11 KJV  Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.  (11)  And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

Proverbs 3:5 KJV Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Once an animal was brought into the court, it was sacrificed
On the Altar of Burnt Offering

Altar of Burnt Offerings and the Laver: Repentance, Forgiveness & Reconciliation

Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors (self examination; forgive as we forgive).

Altar of burnt offerings was the first step of repentance/reconciliation

Exodus 30:28-30 KJV And the altar of burnt offering with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot.  (29)  And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.  (30)  And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office.

PRIEST AND PROPHET OF THE OLD TESTAMENT
The PRIEST represented the people to God.  The PROPHET represented God to the people.

1 Corinthians 11:28 KJV  (28)  But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

SELF REFLECTION
The Priests accepted the offerings and sacrifices at the gate to the courtyard.  Their work in the courtyard and in the Holy Place represented the people.  The reflection of the priest in the pool of water of the Laver; represented the people examining themselves.   As Paul said in the above verse; examine self!

James 1:23-25 ESV For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.  (24)  For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.  (25)  But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

Transformation in Christ
We are to examine ourselves and make sure that we are on the right path of Christ and being transformed by the Holy Ghost.

The Priest then entered the Tabernacle on behalf of the people which is illuminated by the Golden Candlestick; which represents Christ and the Church.  It is pure gold and represents a divine element of holiness.  Christ is the vine and we (the church) are the branches.  There are seven bowls to hold seven candles: representing the seven churches in the book of revelation.  There were seven actual churches in Asia; each one may also represent a church era and/or a church attitude; Read Revelation Chapters 2 and 3 for more details.

GOLDEN CANDLESTICK AND CHRIST WHO LEADS AWAY FROM SIN
And lead us not into temptation
The WORD, Jesus Christ and The Church light the world and lead away from sin

Psalms 119:105 KJV Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

John 9:5 KJV As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

Matthew 5:14 KJV Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

TABLE OF SHOW BREAD OR BREAD OF PRESENCE OR RIGHEOUSNESS OUR DELIVERENCE FROM EVIL

Deliver us from evil
The bread on the table was unleavened and pictured righteous and Jesus Christ who delivers us from sin.

His presence through the Holy Ghost makes us Holy.  Leavened Bread represents Sin and Satan in the Bible and Unleavened Bread represents Righteousness & Jesus.  There were twelve loaves to represent the Twelve Tribes of Israel; but also represent the Twelve Apostles.

New Jerusalem will be built on twelve foundations; each one representing the names of the Twelve Apostles.  We will enter through twelve gates, each one named after the Twelve Tribes of Israel.  Salvations came to us through the Jews; through Christ; David and Judah.

Exodus 25:23-24 KJV Thou shalt also make a table of shittim wood: two cubits shall be the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.  (24)  And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of gold round about. (30)  And thou shalt set upon the table shewbread before me always.

Leviticus 24:5-7 KJV And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals shall be in one cake.  (6)  And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the LORD.  (7)  And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

1 Corinthians 5:8 KJV Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Revelation 21:12-14 KJV And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:  (13) On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.  (14)  And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Romans 1:16 KJV For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

               THE GOLDEN ALTAR OF INCENSE
Through the LORD’s Model Prayer we enter into the Holy of Holies
The Incense burned on this altar represents the prayers of the Saints

Revelation 5:8 ESV  And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

This Most Holy Place was sealed off by a veil.  Later when the temple was built after the pattern of the Tabernacle, this veil was torn in two at Christ’s death; exposing the Holy of Holies to all!  This pictures our direct access to God through Jesus Christ.

THE ARK OF THE COVENANT:  GOD’S THRONE & KINGDOM
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Our inheritance of all things: eternity with Jesus Christ on His throne forever!

Revelation 21:7 KJV He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Revelation 3:21 KJV To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Praying through the Tabernacle means to follow the steps of the High Priest as we prepare ourselves to access the Holy of Holies through our petitions to God.  It pictures the entire plan of salvation in the Gospel of the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.  So let’s review these steps again.  After entering through the gates with THANKSGIVING and into the courts with PRAISE; the HIGH PRIEST then SACRIFICED ON THE BRAZEN ALTER (SYMBOLIC OF THE BLOOD OF Christ that reconciles us) washed in the LAVER (the water of reflection and the washing of the WORD, a type of BAPTISM); he then took burning incense from the ALTAR OF INCENSE (the sins and prayers of the people along with the atoning blood) and entered THE HOLY OF HOLIES once a year for the people of Israel to be reconciled to God.   The LORD’s Prayer which Jesus gave as an outline of how to pray; it to takes us through these same steps as we have seen today.

OUR PRAYERS NEED TO INCLUDE:
GATES:  Thanksgiving
PRAISE:  Praise & Worship
ALTAR OF SACRIFICE:  Repentance
LAVER OF WATER:  Renewal of our Baptism with Self Reflection
Washing in the WORD which is taking responsibility for our Baptism in Righteousness
Our prayers need to be beaten fine as incense and offered up to God
Then we can go BOLDLY before God’s throne of Grace and find help and mercy.

Hebrews 4:14-16 KJV Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.  (15)  For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.  (16)  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace;  that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

If we want our prayers answered, then we need to follow the outlines and use the tools that God has given us; taking care for all of the steps.  Then we will see answered prayers and the power of God in our prayers.

The Tabernacle of God Part 1 -- Our Model for Worship Today

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL GRAPHICS CAN BE RIGHT CLICKED AND DOWNLOADED OR OPENED IN A NEW TAB OR WINDOW TO ENLARGE.

If you have ever worshiped in any Catholic or Protestant Church building; that was built before 1940; the interior architecture was most likely very similar; regardless of denomination.  The building would have most likely been rectangular.

Solomon's Temple
It consisted of three basic areas; in order as you would encounter them upon entry and worship.  The Narthex,  which is a lobby or gathering area that leads into the Navethe worship area where the people sit, usually in pews, and the  Chancel, the area where the altar, lectern, pulpit, communion rail, and choir box are located.

The Cathedral in Aachen, Germany which I visited in 1984

The oldest Christian church in Europe is Aachen Cathedral, dating back to the year 805.  Most all Christian churches built between 805 and 1940 all have this same three part basic structure.  The reason being is that it follows the architecture of Solomon’s Temple, which was designed after the Tabernacle of the Church in the Wilderness of the Children of Israel.

THE TABERNACLE WAS GOD’S DWELLING PLACE IN THE WILDERNESS
Exodus 25:8 KJV And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.

THE TABERNACLE WAS A SHADOW OF HEAVENLY THINGS
Hebrews 8:1-5 KJV Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; (2)  A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.  (3)  For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.  (4)  For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:  (5) Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

THE TABERNACLE:  PORTABLE CHURCH FOR A WANDERING PEOPLE
The Tabernacle was a portable worship venue like the tents used for rival meetings of a by gone area.  The word tabernacle merely means a tent sanctuary, or a temporary shelter.  The Tabernacle was rectangular and consisted of three areas.  The screened in Court Yard (by curtains), that surrounded the actual tabernacle or tent.  The tabernacle tent was also rectangular and consisted of a large rectangular room called the Holy Place; and beyond the veil was a smaller room called the Holy of Holies.  It was in the Holy of Holies where the Ark Of The Covenant was kept.  The Ark of the Covenant was a box,  overlaid with gold; that represented the throne of God.  On top of the Ark was a Mercy Seat .  The Holy of Holies was only entered once a year by theHigh Priest on the Day of Atonement.  At that time, the blood of a lamb was poured out on the Mercy Seat after the High Priest confessed the sins of Israel before it.   The illustration below shows the Tabernacle.

Leviticus 16:2 KJV  And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

Hebrews 9:1-7 ESV Now even the first covenant had regulations for worship and an earthly place of holiness.  (2)  For a tent was prepared, the first section, in which were the lampstand and the table and the bread of the Presence. It is called the Holy Place.  (3)  Behind the second curtain was a second section called the Most Holy Place,  (4)  having the golden altar of incense andthe ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden urn holding the manna, and Aaron's staff that budded, and the tablets of the covenant.  (5)  Above it were thecherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.  (6)  These preparations having thus been made, the priests go regularly into the first section, performing their ritual duties, (7)  but into the second only the high priest goes, and he but once a year, and not without taking blood, which he offers for himself and for the unintentional sins of the people.

Though the Tabernacle had a very intricate design of many specific details that had to be precisely fabricated; the Tabernacle was simply the means by which the priests represented the people to God on a daily basis.  The work of the priests was a daily duty of making offerings, sacrifices and prayers to God.  The courtyard cut off access to the common man.  Their offerings had to be presented to the priests at the door to the courtyard.  Burnt offering obviously had to be done outside within the open-air court on the ALTAR OF BURNT OFFERINGS.  A LAVER OF BRONZEwas a washing basin outside the Holy Place wherein the priests could prepare themselves by washing their hands and feetbefore entering the Holy Place.   The GOLDEN LAMP STAND represents the light of Christ our LORD that shines down through the ages as represented by the seven churches of Revelation and the seven lamps on the candle stand.  TheTABLE OF BREAD OF PRESENCE was also called the Table of Show Bread.  It held twelve loaves of bread that represents the Body of Christ.  Ever present, the LORD nourishes us with the true bread from heaven; the bread of eternal life.  It is the WORD that feeds us under the nurture of the Church that is built through the twelve apostles.  THE INCENSE ALTAR represents the prayers of the saints.  THE INNER VEIL; covers and seals the Holy of Holies; from the Holy Placerepresents the life and body of Jesus Christ.  At His death, the veil was ripped in two exposing and giving access to God’s throne, THE ARK AND THE MERCY SEAT.

God gave Moses very specific instructions of the measurements of every post, curtain, latch, hook, fabric and every furnishing.  The only items allowed in the Tabernacle were  the Ark of the Covenant; Table of Showbread; Incense altar; Golden Lamp stand; Laver of Water; and the Altar of Burnt Offering.

ARK OF THE COVENANT & MERCY SEAT
Ark of the Covenant
Exodus 25:10-21 ESV "They shallmake an ark of acacia wood. Two cubits and a half shall be its length, a cubit and a half its breadth, and a cubit and a half its height.  (11)  You shall overlay it with pure gold, inside and outside shall you overlay it, and you shall make on it a molding of gold around it.  (12)  You shall cast four rings of gold for it and put them on its four feet, two rings on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it.  (13)  You shall make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.  (14)  And you shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark by them.  (15)  The poles shall remain in the rings of the ark; they shall not be taken from it.  (16)  And you shall put into the ark the testimony that I shall give you.  (17)  "You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold. Two cubits and a half shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its breadth.  (18)  And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work shall you make them, on the two ends of the mercy seat.  (19)  Make one cherub on the one end, and one cherub on the other end. Of one piece with the mercy seat shall you make the cherubim on its two ends.  (20)  The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings, their faces one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubim be.  (21)  And you shall put the mercy seat on the top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I shall give you.

TABLE FOR THE BREAD OF PRESENCE

Table For The Bread Of Presence
Exodus 25:23-30 ESV"You shall make a table of acacia wood. Two cubits shall be its length, a cubit its breadth, and a cubit and a half its height.  (24)  You shall overlay it with pure gold and make a molding of gold around it.  (25)  And you shall make a rim around it a handbreadth wide, and a molding of gold around the rim.  (26)  And you shall make for it four rings of gold, and fasten the rings to the four corners at its four legs.  (27)  Close to the frame the rings shall lie, as holders for the poles to carry the table.  (28)  You shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold, and the table shall be carried with these.  (29)  And you shall make its plates and dishes for incense, and its flagons and bowls with which to pour drink offerings; you shall make them of pure gold.  (30)  And you shall set the bread of the Presence on the table before me regularly.

GOLDEN LAMPSTAND
Golden Lampstand
Exodus 25:31-40 ESV" You shall make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand shall be made of hammered work: its base, its stem, its cups, its calyxes, and its flowers shall be of one piece with it.  (32)  And there shall be six branches going out of its sides, three branches of the lampstand out of one side of it and three branches of the lampstand out of the other side of it;  (33)  three cups made like almond blossoms, each with calyx and flower, on one branch, and three cups made like almond blossoms, each with calyx and flower, on the other branch--so for the six branches going out of the lampstand.  (34)  And on the lampstand itself there shall be four cups made like almond blossoms, with their calyxes and flowers,  (35)  and a calyx of one piece with it under each pair of the six branches going out from the lampstand.  (36)  Their calyxes and their branches shall be of one piece with it, the whole of it a single piece of hammered work of pure gold.  (37)  You shall make seven lamps for it. And the lamps shall be set up so as to give light on the space in front of it.  (38)  Its tongs and their trays shall be of pure gold.  (39)  It shall be made, with all these utensils, out of a talent of pure gold.  (40)  And see that you make them after the pattern for them, which is being shown you on the mountain.

 LAVER OF BRASS
Laver Of Brass
Exodus 30:18-21 KJV Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein.  (19)  For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat:  (20)  When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD:  (21)  So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.

ALTAR OF INCENSE
Altar of Incense
Exodus 30:1-9 KJV  And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon: of shittim wood shalt thou make it.  (2)  A cubit shall be the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof; foursquare shall it be: and two cubits shall be the height thereof: the horns thereof shall be of the same.  (3)  And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, the top thereof, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns thereof; and thou shalt make unto it a crown of gold round about.  (4)  And two golden rings shalt thou make to it under the crown of it, by the two corners thereof, upon the two sides of it shalt thou make it; and they shall be for places for the staves to bear it withal.  (5)  And thou shalt make the staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold.  (6)  And thou shalt put it before the vail that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee.  (7)  And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it.  (8)  And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.  (9)  Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon, nor burnt sacrifice, nor meat offering; neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon.

ALTAR OF SACRIFICE

Altar of Sacrifice
Exodus 27:1-2 KJV And thou shalt make an altar of shittim wood, five cubits long, and five cubits broad; the altar shall be foursquare: and the height thereof shall be three cubits.  (2)  And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof: his horns shall be of the same: and thou shalt overlay it with brass.
The Tabernacle

The Tabernacle and the priesthood were shadows of things to come.  They pointed to Jesus Christ our great High Priest.  We no longer have to go through a human priest to have access to God’s throne.  The blood of Christ did what the blood of animal sacrifices only symbolized.  Now we all have access to our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRST, the MIGHTY GOD; twenty four hours a day forever!
