They That Wait Upon The LORD Shall Renew Their Strength

Encountering animals in their natural habitat is always amazing.  Our Creator has truly set about us wondrous beauty.  One day while fishing a small lake in central Wisconsin with a friend in his boat; we were joined by a bald eagle.  To watch that powerful bird swoop down and catch fish was quite a site.  It was nothing less than magnificent.  The wing span was majestic.  Watching birds and the speed of their flight gives a fully meaning the the scripture below from Isaiah.

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

Waiting does not come easily for me; but over the years, the trying of my faith has worked patience; as is stated in James.

“Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing”(James 1:3-4).

The decade of 2000 to 2010 was a time of relentless health issues requiring an average of two medical appointments every week.  Using medical services will build patience.  Attitude adjustments and changing of one’s mind set are necessary to survive the ordeal.  It is amazing how we can adapt.  When Isaiah wrote, “wait upon the Lord,” he didn’t mean to sit idle.  We do our part and then place the need in God’s hands.  While we “wait,” we are to grow in character as James infers.

Our 21st Century society is fast paced.  We believe that we can’t wait.  Everything needs to be instant.  The problem we encounter is that we are so far ahead of God, that we get off the path.  As a child, our family was always traveling to some natural wonder to hike and explore trails in the woods.  Dad worked downtown in the Chicago Loop.  He yearned for the open spaces of the outdoors.  Many times as kids, we would run ahead of Mom and Dad only to have to backtrack because me made a wrong turn.  Dad had our steps ordered, the path planned; but we wanted to go our own way.  They were smart, all of that backtracking made us go to bed earlier and sleep more soundly.  Backtracking as adults has more consequences.  We get away from God’s \prescribed path for us.  If we yield to God, He will order our steps and our path.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way” (Psalms 37:23)

The time we can waste in worry, because we get ahead of God can’t be redeemed.  It can drain our health and rob us of our peace of mind and joy.  It would be so much less traumatic if we would just wait on the Lord, knowing that something good is going to come from the difficult moment.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

God does not want us to be exhausted!  He says, “wait on Him,” and be renewed in strength; then we will mount up on eagle’s wings.  We shall run and not be weary!  Reclaim your youth!  Wait on the Lord.

“Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's” (Psalms 103:5).

Prayer:  Father I am so foolish to run ahead of your schedule.  Help keep me on your path; the one that you put in a special order for me.  It is tailor made.  Let me be renewed in you Lord.  I love you Jesus and pray all in your name Lord Jesus, Amen.
