The Hilarious Giver

If there is one topic that needs a constant review, it is the subject of giving.  The Law of Giving defines God and it should define every Christian.  It is a law because it invokes cause and effect for embracing it and it will bring about an opposite result for breaking it.  God’s laws are like mathematical axioms; there is only one way, one answer and one solution.  We run our entire world on the absolute trust that 2+2=4.  The math never fails because it was defined by God and discovered by man.  When man wants to compromise and try to change God’s law, the result will never add up to a blessing.  Webster’s Dictionary defines law as “the revelation of the will of God…”

THE LAW OF GIVING
Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

This is an absolute.  When faced with a financial crisis recently, my wife wanted to respond by adding to our giving to missions by a certain amount; my reply was double it.  We worship God by our giving.  We are not playing by the world’s rules; we are living in Luke 6:38; the Law of Giving.  We turned our crisis into praise, worship and thanksgiving to God.  That crisis happened just before my health crisis.  During that health crisis, many people gave to us in many ways and not just financial.  God inspired people to help us because we are plugged into God and His Law of Giving.  Jesus said that it is more blessed to give:

Acts 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

GIVE vs. GET
God is personified by the word/law GIVE.  Satan is personified by the word/law GET.  These words define God’s way of LOVE and Satan’s way of HATE.  When we live in the laws of LOVE and GIVING, we do so with great joy because the Holy Ghost lives in us.  We are plugged into God.  The LORD loves a cheerful giver.  The word cheerful was translated from a Greek word that is the root for our word hilarious.  Our joy in giving should be of good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over.  We should not be able to contain our joy and laughter in giving; it should run over.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Yesterday, we were visited by a woman that we went to high school with back in 1975, along with her husband.  She has been on my wife’s Face Book friends list for about a year.  During my health crisis, she was constantly encouraging her and praying for us.  They came to visit us to bring us a bathtub transfer bench so that I could shower.  We had never really met in high school, but upon hearing of our need, they drove over 80 miles to help us.  They are Christians and we spent over 3 hours getting to know one another.  It was awesome fellowship and they departed with plans for us to get together again soon.

The list of people who have helped us and prayed for us during my two month hospital stay is countless.  We are so appreciative of all that everyone has done.  We pray for God to continue to bless each and every one of you.
